By the way, my vote goes to Joe Bowen and Harry Neale from the Leafs.
Bowen SCREAMS at every little thing, even if it is just a harmless shot from the blueline, and his ';Holy Macanaw'; is used way too much now.
Harry Neale reminds me of those announcers from video games who after playing 3 games you've heard everything they're gonna say and they keep repeating themselves. Everytime there is a slash that brakes a stick he always says ';The DNA evidence is on the ice to prove it'; or if someone gets hit with a high stick he always says ';he tried his hardest to bleed but couldnt do it'; (referring to the 4 minute high sticking rule)Who's the worst NHL Play by Play person?
That irritating radio guy for the Sabres is pretty bad. Annoying voice and he has to scream ';score'; for at least 5 minutes after a goal in the highest pitched voice ever uttered by a male.
I'm not a big fan of the Penguins local TV announcers, mostly because I love the amazing Mike Lange who used to do it and now does the Pens radio broadcast.Who's the worst NHL Play by Play person?

Say what you will about Rick Jearnerette. He's as much a part of Sabres hockey as anyone on the team. We all love him. RJ calls the game with the excitment that all us Sabres fan have when we're watching them.

earlier this year, i was in pittsburgh for a game and watched thier local guy, i don't know his name, but he was horrible. it was boring, like watching a baseball game, zero emotion, zero inflection. just boring.
I don't know but the best is Gary Thorne.
The Colorado guys...
not sure their names, but during intermission, they showed some out of town scores.
lo and behold they get to a Sabres game and, of course, the Sabres hosed the team they were playing and Rick Jeanneret was going crazy.
So the guy in Colorado proceeds to say: ';And this guy would go bonkers 5 more times.';
#1 - Being excited about the sport and your team winning is a good thing.
#2 - Who the hell are you??? Some herb *** living in Aspen...RJ is written about in hockey commentator legend..

The announcers on Versus. I don't even know who they are; I mute the TV and turn the radio on to listen to Rick Jeanneret so that I hear hockey instead of them talking about what they wore to dinner last Thursday night. OMG they're AWFUL!
Every one on VS except for John Forslund %26amp; Mike Emrick. They have to be the best by far, but other than them all the rest of the broadcasters on VS are the worst. They never call the game and just talk and laugh back and forth. Its annoying as crap.-
Really? You don't like Harry Neale? I love him, he's just so old school, and you know he knows everything there is to know about the game.
One year during the playoffs, Scotty Bowman (who lives right near Neale in Buffalo) was driving up to the Leafs games with Harry and all I could think of is how do I stow away in the backseat and just listen to these two geniuses.
I of course will say the best is Rick Jennerette. He's the most enthusiastic, insightful, entertaining guy around. You never know what he's going to say and he can make a dull game exciting.
Dude...I love Bowen. He's the best one out there. The best thing about him is that he makes it really exciting since you are listening to it on radio. Many radio announcers are soo boring. I know many people who mute the TV and listen to Bowen's commentary whilst watching TV. IMHO, Bowen is one of the best out there. I hope you're not hating him because you're an Ottawa fan and he's from the Leafs :) I've been listening to him from way back in the 80's. Nowadays, Bowen only does the Saturday games for the Leafs on the radio.
Anyone on Versus...I can't stand listening to them! I die a little on the inside when I hear their crappy commentating.

Chico Resch and Doc Emerick of the Devils broadcast.
Yesterday they had the trivia and Sergei Brylin was one of the choices, and Chico and Doc were discussing the ansers and I quote Chico here ';Yeah I dont think its gays (Sergei, trying to sound all cool by shortening the name) was playing that long';. And Doc is the king of throwing long vocabulary words into spots they dont belong, I was watching a Devils Islanders game, and if you know the Isles jerseys the dashes on the shoulder he said ';And the Islanders are wearing their home blue with the white and orange chevrons on the shoulder';.
I was watching a game earlier this year where Madden was behind the net and threw a pass to Dowd at the far blueline who went in and scored, the puck was on the ice and popped over the Florida d-man, and Chico started saying how Madden was brilliant and planned that, the puck hit a rut in the ice and it popped over his stick. Every save by Brodeur is his greatest save ever, and the Devils never make a mistake, everything is always perfect by the Devils. And Doc has a new saying this year ';very deliberately';, ';And Elias very deliberately dumps it on net, and it kareeeeems off the post and into the corner';. And Doc is so annoying when the Devils score, its a crescendo and then the puck is in the net SCOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRE. And of course every puck can go in according to him, so he starts screaming when they dump the puck on net, then of course Chico makes the save seem like the greatest save Brodeur has ever made, terrible just terrible.
I could go on and on about those 2.
those idiots on versus.....i cant stand em, luckely so far all the games on versus have also been on cbc, they are much better on cbc.....but i like fsn detroit, i'm pretty sure you dont get that but those guys are the best.
I think the announcers on VS or OLN or whatever the hell the call themselves this year are by far the worse ever. I hate when my team (Sabres) play on VS because then I can hear one of the best announcers Rick Jennerette. He really makes a game exciting. The guys on VS sit there and talk about the most irrelevant stuff ever. Just call the game and sound a little excited about will ya's????
